Spring Clean Your Skin

by Bridget Hobart

Spring is in the air! As the winter slowly departs and spring graces us with her presence, our skin begs for some hydration and exfoliation. Springtime skin care should be aimed at repairing.  Just like we spring clean our closets and purge of old items that we no longer will use, we should think about doing the same for our skin care products. Out with the old and in with the new!  If you are using products with only natural and clean preservatives, like I do with my Colorado Aromatics products, you should think about tossing products that you haven’t used in the past 6 months.

Spring is an excellent time to exfoliate your skin. Say goodbye to your flaky and dry skin.

For the face we recommend our Herbal Clay Mask and add a mashed up banana or yogurt to get the texture you want.  The clay is especially good for oily skin. In fact, alot of teens have fun using this for a girls night!

For mature skin we recommend our Starbright Brightening Mask. This contains alpha hydroxy acids from fruit for a mild exfoliation as well as ingredients to help with age spots.  Leave it on for 10-15 minutes if possible, less if you feel irritation. To make it easier, some customers put this on first thing in the morning and then wash it off in the shower. Using this 1-2 times per week is enough.

Many people mistakenly think that exfoliating means scrubbing your skin and even harsh chemical peels. Your skin has a natural protective barrier and shedding too much of it could have you suffering from dryness, redness and inflammation. No one wants that! Remember to relax while you leave your mask on; relaxation has a positive influence on the aggressions of our skin.

For the rest of the body try our Botanical Salt Scrubs while showering. They will get rid of the dry skin you’ve had all winter and leave your skin feeling soft and supple. We have some amazing fragrances to choose from; Lavender/rose, coriander/orange, Rosemary/mint, and Mocha/mint. Massage the scrub onto your skin while in the shower and then rinse off. The massaging can also help reduce cellulite.

Exfoliating will eliminate the oldest, dead layer of cells on your skin that have an ashy look. Once removed your skin will glow and your moisturizing products will be better absorbed. Tone and texture of the skin will improve, your skin will feel smoother and silkier immediately and your skin will glow!

Welcome spring!
