This post was written by Katy McHugh, one of our team members here at Colorado Aromatics. You can find her working here in the lab and at the Farmers Market. She is an avid product user with oily skin and offers her perspective on using Colorado Aromatics products on oily skin.
Many people think that because Colorado Aromatics uses ingredients for anti-aging, that they can’t be used on younger, oily skin. What’s unique about Colorado Aromatics skincare brand is that our goal is to make the most versatile products we can, packed with antioxidant rich ingredients that are good for all skin types. As a young user of Colorado Aromatics products (I’ve been a customer since I was 19!), I’ve always had a deep appreciation for the fact that this company both takes care of my skin, and doesn’t empty this poor, college kids bank account. Spending time outside means my skin gets sweaty and oily quick, so I need something to help combat rapid, excessive sebum productioHere are the Colorado Aromatics products that I LOVE to use for my oily skin:
Springtide Gold paired with Parsley Eye Serum– Many people with oily skin tend to stray away from oil products in fear that it will make them more oily. I’ve found that using a high-quality face cream like Springtide, with a facial oil over top to lock in that moisture actually keeps my skin from over-producing oil, because I’ve already added it! This is something I like to call a “makeup misconception”. If you’ve got oily skin like me, go for the good stuff, don’t starve your skin!
Oasis Spray Lotion– Since this is a moisturizer that sprays out of a spritzer, it has a lot more water in it. This means it’s a lot more moisturizing. On summer days, when I know I’m going to be sweating all day and my skin is going to take a beating from the outdoors, I go for this. It soaks in incredibly fast, so I know I’m not going to sweat it off right after I put it on. This is a wonderful tool to bring camping if you have oily skin! It’s quick and so easy to apply. Plus, it smells amazing!
Razz Tightening Serum– This is an oil-free serum that is typically used for puffiness under the eye, as well as fine lines. What most people don’t realize is that it is a great moisturizer. If you have oily skin and you’re still not very comfortable fighting oil with oil, this is your best friend. It’s light and feels wonderful on the skin, and will keep your face from dehydrating.
Meadow Mist Cleanser with Jojoba Beads- It’s no surprise to anyone that oily skin and acne-prone skin go hand-in-hand (especially when you’re young and stressed out in college!). A good way to combat breakouts is a good cleanser. This is something that is particularly tricky because you have to work to find something perfectly in the middle. You don’t want something too harsh or you might end up hindering more than you’re helping your skin. That’s one of the reasons why I love to use Colorado Aromatic’s Meadow Mist Cleanser. It has a natural, very mild exfoliant to stimulate new skin cell regeneration. This means it helps breakouts to heal faster and keeps your skin clean to avoid future breakouts.
It doesn’t stop there! Colorado Aromatics has a versatile face care line backed by Mother Nature and science. Everyone’s skin is different but these products pack in as much as they can to give your skin a good line of defense against damage caused by the environment. It took time for me to figure out the best way to work with my oily skin, and these products have helped so much. I’ve been a customer for almost three years and now work for Colorado Aromatics as well!
Since our skin is always aging, I think it’s great your products can be used on oily skin. Most younger people have some oily spots, but it’s never too early to treat your skin right.
yes, I think that is the basis of it Angela, learning to care for your skin at an early age is important. Thanks for reading.
I love how you describe the products, thanks for the detailed information. I hope to see more of your writing Katy.
Thanks Sharon, I’ll tell her. She’s graduating college now and I am trying to balance wanting to keep her here as long as possible and wishing her well in her next endeavor!
