Last week I had the pleasure of being a guest on Here’s to Your Health Radio show hosted by Josh Lane. We talked about the benefits of using medicinal herbs in skin care products; particularly, Colorado Aromatics skin care products. We also talked about our Longmont farm. You can listen to the program below, it is only 16 minutes or so. He calls his program ‘Intelligent Wellness Talk’ and he interviews many influential thinkers in health and beauty.
Calendula was a big topic of the conversation. We talked a about it’s benefits for skin that include hydration, supporting collagen, and overall improving skin health.
Lavender, although it has great aromatherapy benefits to help with decreasing stress and anxiety, can also help to calm the skin. As with most herbs, it is rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents. Lavender is one of the herbs that we distill to make our face/body mists.
Other herbs that we grow on the farm include fennel, rosemary, raspberry leaf, parsley and hops. After we harvest these herbs we extract them in several ways to use them in cosmetics. They are partnered with cosmetic active ingredients including peptides and hyaluronic acid to create a high performance skin care product. These products are great for skin that is exposed to the outdoors and Coloradans love their outdoors.
We love being able to spread the word about Colorado Aromatics in this way and are honored to be considered an influencer in our field. Learn more about ‘Here’s to Your Health’ Radio here.
Some years back an herbalist friend taught me that you should be able to eat your skincare products. At first I was very confused by the statement, but with time realized that putting clean, natural ingredients on your skin is a very smart recommendation.
