Why We Love Colorado

by Heather Hammond

We love living and having a business in Colorado. Here are some reasons why.

Colorado has 15 national forests that lie entirely within our state lines, and small portions of two others (Hayden and LaSal), and the total area of these beautiful forests is 13,234,380 acres.

Colorado also is home of four National Parks. They are: Mesa Verde, Rocky Mountain, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, and the Great Sand Dunes (there is also Colorado National Monument).

Colorado’s elevation ranges from a mere 3,350 feet (Arkansas River) to an amazing 14,443 feet (Mount Elbert).

Colorado is the highest of the 50 states, with an average altitude of 6,800 feet.

Leadville is North America’s highest incorporated town at 10,152 feet.

And speaking of high places, according to, we also have 53 ranked 14ers and five unranked 14ers.

Katherine Lee Bates was inspired to write “America the Beautiful” from atop Pikes Peak. Brings a tear to your eye doesn’t it?

For the snow skiers, there are about 30 resorts that operate on a regular basis, and an unbelievable 145 that are now dormant. (

For the fishermen (and women), floaters and boaters, Colorado boasts more than 65,000 miles of streams, nearly 2,500 cold-water lakes and reservoirs, and 360 warm-water lakes.

To enjoy all this beauty and wonder that is Colorado, we enjoy an average of 300 days of sunshine each year.

And to keep our skin looking great through all this, we have Colorado Aromatics Cultivated Skin Care.

Did I miss your favorite thing about Colorado? Post it below.

Spring Clean Your Skin

Applying a clay mask

Applying a clay mask

by Bridget Hobart

Spring is in the air! As the winter slowly departs and spring graces us with her presence, our skin begs for some hydration and exfoliation. Springtime skin care should be aimed at repairing.  Just like we spring clean our closets and purge of old items that we no longer will use, we should think about doing the same for our skin care products. Out with the old and in with the new!  If you are using products with only natural and clean preservatives, like I do with my Colorado Aromatics products, you should think about tossing products that you haven’t used in the past 6 months.

Spring is an excellent time to exfoliate your skin. Say goodbye to your flaky and dry skin.

For the face we recommend our Herbal Clay Mask and add a mashed up banana or yogurt to get the texture you want.  The clay is especially good for oily skin. In fact, alot of teens have fun using this for a girls night!

For mature skin we recommend our Starbright Brightening Mask. This contains alpha hydroxy acids from fruit for a mild exfoliation as well as ingredients to help with age spots.  Leave it on for 10-15 minutes if possible, less if you feel irritation. To make it easier, some customers put this on first thing in the morning and then wash it off in the shower. Using this 1-2 times per week is enough.

Many people mistakenly think that exfoliating means scrubbing your skin and even harsh chemical peels. Your skin has a natural protective barrier and shedding too much of it could have you suffering from dryness, redness and inflammation. No one wants that! Remember to relax while you leave your mask on; relaxation has a positive influence on the aggressions of our skin.

For the rest of the body try our Botanical Salt Scrubs while showering. They will get rid of the dry skin you’ve had all winter and leave your skin feeling soft and supple. We have some amazing fragrances to choose from; Lavender/rose, coriander/orange, Rosemary/mint, and Mocha/mint. Massage the scrub onto your skin while in the shower and then rinse off. The massaging can also help reduce cellulite.

Exfoliating will eliminate the oldest, dead layer of cells on your skin that have an ashy look. Once removed your skin will glow and your moisturizing products will be better absorbed. Tone and texture of the skin will improve, your skin will feel smoother and silkier immediately and your skin will glow!

Welcome spring!

5 Reasons to Get Outside Daily

Get outside daily

Get outside daily

Getting outside in bad weather can be hard, but it is important for your skin health as well as your overall health. Here are five reasons why its important.

1.  To get a better night’s sleep. Sunshine helps regulate melatonin levels so that you sleep better at night.
2.  To reduce eye strain. Outside you can focus on distant objects to help prevent eye strain, especially from computer use.
3.  To connect with nature. Sometimes when I am inside I can forget what season it is. Get outside to feel the weather, hear the sounds of animals, look at the sky, and see the trees.
4.  To make vitamin D. You skin is responsible for making vitamin D through a reaction that requires UV light. 15 minutes of sunshine a day will help your body make enough vitamin D to reduce the risk of cancer, diabetes, improve bone health and control some skin conditions such as psoriasis.
5.  To reduce blood pressure. When skin is exposed to sunshine a compound is produced that helps lower blood pressure.

Does that make you want to get up and take a walk outside?
